  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ cups Canola Oil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375° F.
  • In a large cast-iron pan over medium heat, add your flour and oil. Stir them together until it becomes a smooth consistency and it begins to bubble.
  • Instead of stirring this for two hours, put the entire pan in the oven. Cook it for 90 minutes total, but make sure to stir it every 30 minutes. It should be smooth and velvety and a dark chocolate brown. This is the perfect base for gumbo!
